Attendance for open field is voluntary, but very highly encouraged, as the focus is on conditioning and preparing for the tryout.  In November, open field will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (excluding Thanksgiving week), 3:30-4:30 p.m.  However, you should check this site daily for possible schedule changes and updates.

The general format for November’s 60-minute open field sessions will include an active warm-up (15-20 minutes), followed by the day’s structured workout (20-30 minutes), and ending with a fun, competitive cool-down (15-20 minutes).  The workout is designed to be challenging and each day will be different, as we will utilize the Varsity Softball Field, the track, the bleachers, and possibly other areas around campus.

The length, frequency, and format for open field will change for the December and January sessions, as we add softball-specific activities.  In December and January, we will increase the sessions to 90 minutes, ending at 5:00 p.m.  Participants should wear athletic clothing and athletic shoes.  (Cleats will likely not be needed until December, but it is good practice to pack them, just in case.)
